Year 2024
Creatives – Illustration, Projection mapped film, Animated videos/explainers for various galleries in the Museum
The Abhay Prabhavna Museum (need to get correct names) inaugurated in November 2024 is a mammoth and sprawling endeavour by the Firodia family (one of India’s oldest and foremost industrialist families and owners of Force Motors) to bring the histories, ideologies and life practices of Jainism to the world.
The museum spans ____ acres and is deep in knowledge and spiritual richness as it is wide in scale. The numerous galleries cover beautifully articulated aspects of the traditions, philosophy, culture and social relevance of Jainism and the Jain community.
We designed and developed films for 8 galleries ? 8 animated films illustrating the Jain concepts of Karma, Lokapurush (The Jain Cosmology and Universe), Spiritual Purification, Happiness, the Commonality of ancient Indic traditions, a historical narrative on Jain Councils through time, a summarising film as an Orientation to a set of galleries etc etc
We were fortunate to work with the excellent Amar Prerna (museum design, Mythili’s team) and Lokus Design (what official role) who had designed the content outlines and individual galleries. We worked closely with them and the Firodia family in visualising and developing tangible narratives from deep, philosophical constructs.
Translating these century-spanning principles into informative, accurate and beautiful visuals was challenging and rewarding in itself.
Our pride of place of the films we made, was the Lokapurush, a resplendent projection mapped construct of the Jain Universe, that piece by piece illustrated the many complex dimensional aspects. The installation is an interesting mix of cosmic, ephemeral visuals with traditional Jain miniature art, projection mapped onto a semi-circular column in the shape of the Lokapurush. The experience in the gallery is mesmerising and elevating, yet understandable to adults and children.
