Creatives – Animated videos for various galleries in the Museum

Our first foray into designing videos for large museums, we had the opportunity to create 3 evocative videos featuring different parts of India’s political history. All 3 were displayed on unconventional screen formats, set in
wonderful galleries, pulling the viewers into unforgettable and emotional experiences.

The first film titled “Merchants to Monarchs” traced the key events of pre-British India, the arrival of the East India Company and the sub-continent wide transformation that led to the powerful British Raj. An exceptional motion graphics piece built with illustrations and maps in the archival-paintings and portraits style of colonial India.

The second film titled “Gandhiji and religion” was a triptych screen experience embedded into profiles of 3 places of worship. Across the screens played a contemplative live-action film of a very young Gandhiji walking in and out of each place of worship as he voiced his questions and revelations on religion.

The third film titled “ was a striking and unsettling motion graphic on the turmoil of the Indian sub-continent being torn apart. Projected onto a horizontally suspended irregular cloth screen, archival photographs and other black and white imagery revealed the harrowing events that culminated in what appeared to be the screen itself tearing apart.

The films played out wonderfully drawing out the right responses from viewers and it was an honour to work on a memorable ode to the Father our Nation.
